Founder and Director
Dr. Robert Izor is a fellowship-trained, board-certified neurologist who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of movement disorders and offers expertise in optimizing medical management and surgical evaluation.
Dr. Izor founded Neurology Solutions Movement Disorders Center (NSC) in 2004, the first subspecialty movement disorder clinic in Central Texas. The practice provides expert care for Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor, dystonia, and other movement disorders — including deep brain stimulation (DBS) — alongside the Brain Health & Metabolic Optimization Program, a physician-led approach to brain health, metabolic optimization, and healthy aging. Dr. Izor is committed to increasing community awareness about Parkinson’s disease, spasticity, and other movement disorders, and continues to stay at the forefront of dystonia and Parkinson’s disease treatments.
Dr. Izor received his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHSCH) and completed his Internship in Internal Medicine at the Ochsner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana, and Residency in Neurology at UTHSCH, where he served as Chief Resident. He completed a fellowship with a focus on movement disorders that covered the selection of patients for Deep Brain Stimulation surgery, intraoperative mapping, and post-operative programming. He holds a Master of Science in Molecular Immunology from the UTHSCH and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center’s Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.
At the forefront of his profession as a movement disorders specialist, Dr. Izor has contributed to both basic science and clinical research. Since 2005, he has been involved in more than 400 Deep Brain Stimulation procedures involving over 800 implanted leads. As the movement-disorders neurologist and neurophysiology expert on the DBS team — working alongside the neurosurgeon rather than performing the surgery himself — his role includes:
- Preoperative planning and targeting
- Review of the final surgical strategy with the neurosurgeon
- Intraoperative microelectrode recording (MER) and neurophysiology testing
- Collaboration on final target selection and lead placement
- Postoperative programming, including directional current and interleaving
- Long-term management and follow-up
Dr. Izor is a member of professional societies including the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society, and the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons. He is affiliated with St. David’s Medical Center.
Speaking & Community Education
Dr. Izor regularly participates in educational programs for patients, caregivers, and the broader community — sharing insights on Parkinson’s disease, movement disorders, and the metabolic and lifestyle factors that shape long-term outcomes. He serves as a featured presenter for organizations such as the Dallas Area Parkinson Society and is scheduled to present on Energy & Metabolism Management in Parkinson’s Disease at the Dallas Area Parkinson Society’s Keep Living Well Symposium on October 3, 2026.
