BloomAxis™ Gut Adaptation
A physician-guided clinical framework for personalized adaptation and support of the gut–liver–brain axis.
We advance on response, not on schedule.

What Is BloomAxis™?
BloomAxis™ is a physician-guided clinical framework for personalized adaptation and support of the gut–liver–brain axis. It is a clinical service and a decision-making model — not a product, and not a fixed program.
It rests on a straightforward observation: the gut is an adaptive system. What it can handle changes over weeks to months, and it changes differently in different people. A plan that ignores that will work for some patients and fail others for reasons that have nothing to do with effort.
So BloomAxis is built around sequence and response rather than a standard set of recommendations — evaluating where you are, moving in a defined order, and adjusting based on how you actually respond.
How BloomAxis™ Works
When gut microbes ferment fiber, they produce compounds that don’t stay in the gut. The best studied is butyrate, a short-chain fatty acid that serves as the primary energy source for the cells lining the colon — a well-established finding in human research.
Those metabolites don’t enter general circulation directly. They travel first to the liver through the portal vein, which processes much of what the microbiome generates before anything reaches the rest of the body, including the brain. That is why the liver sits in this axis as an active intermediary rather than a bystander, and why we look at hepatic and metabolic function alongside the gut rather than separately.
Butyrate’s wider effects — on the intestinal barrier, on inflammation, and on signalling that reaches the brain — rest largely on laboratory and animal work so far. We find that research genuinely promising, and we treat it as promising rather than settled.
Fermentation also produces gas, principally hydrogen. Where clinically useful, we use breath testing to observe how a person ferments and whether that capacity changes over time. Hydrogen is not a treatment target — a high reading is not a win, and hydrogen is the principal driver of the bloating we work to avoid.
The BloomAxis™ Gut Adaptation Sequence
Gut care under BloomAxis follows a defined clinical sequence rather than a fixed protocol.
Evaluation comes first — red flags excluded, contributing conditions identified, medications reviewed. Not all patients proceed, and that is a clinical outcome rather than a failed start.
Care then moves through four stages — transit, tolerance, capacity, and durability — with a physician reassessment between each. At every gate the decision is the same: advance, hold, or step back.
We advance on response, not on schedule. Some patients move through in weeks. Some remain at an early stage indefinitely, appropriately.
For a fuller explanation of how gut adaptation works and why the sequence matters more than the supplement, read Gut Adaptation and the Gut–Brain Axis.
Who This Is For
BloomAxis may be appropriate if you are:
- Focused on metabolic health, cognitive longevity, or healthy aging
- Managing a neurologic condition where gut function affects daily life or medication
- Living with insulin resistance or metabolic dysfunction
- Dealing with digestive symptoms that haven’t responded to general fiber advice
- Looking for care directed by a physician rather than assembled independently
A neurologic diagnosis is not required.
Who this isn’t right for
Some people shouldn’t increase fermentable fiber before something else is addressed. We screen for this before recommending anything, including known or suspected bowel stricture or prior obstruction, significant gastroparesis or severe dysmotility, active inflammatory bowel disease flare, recent abdominal surgery, and difficulty maintaining adequate fluid intake.
New, persistent, or changing bowel symptoms warrant evaluation, not a fiber plan.
What This Work Targets
Every patient is different, and we don’t promise outcomes. The areas we work on are:
- Bowel regularity, stool form, and digestive comfort
- Tolerance of dietary fiber over time
- Metabolic markers, including blood sugar and lipids
- Coordination between gut symptoms and neurologic care, including medication timing
Where the evidence for a wider effect is preliminary, we say so rather than list it as a benefit.
What we don’t do
- We don’t sell a fiber product. No proprietary blend, no product line. Everything we suggest is commercially available from multiple sources, and you can buy it wherever you prefer — what we recommend is settled before anyone considers where you would get it.
- We don’t do cleanses. When we refer to detoxification, we mean specific clearance and processing pathways — hepatic metabolism, biliary function, gastrointestinal elimination, renal excretion — not the purging of unspecified toxins. If a protocol can’t identify which process it supports and how that process is assessed, it isn’t medicine.
- We don’t optimize toward a diversity score.
- We don’t order testing that won’t change the plan.
- We don’t present emerging science as established.
Why Neurology Solutions
BloomAxis™ is never offered in isolation. Every plan is guided by neurologic insight, functional testing, and systems-based thinking, and sequenced so each step builds on the last. Your gut plan is coordinated with the rest of your neurologic and metabolic care, not treated as a separate track.
The hardest judgment in this work is telling adaptation from intolerance when a patient feels worse in week two. They present almost identically and call for opposite responses — and getting it wrong is why most people abandon something that would have worked.
Common Questions
Do I need a neurologic condition to be considered?
No. A neurologic diagnosis is not required. Patients come to BloomAxis focused on metabolic health, cognitive longevity, or digestive symptoms that haven’t responded to general fiber advice. What matters is whether physician-directed gut care is the right fit for you — not whether you already carry a diagnosis.
Do I have to become a member to be evaluated?
Not for the inquiry or the complimentary meet-and-greet. Formal evaluation and ongoing care take place within the membership model. Neither of those first two steps costs anything or commits you to anything, and the meet-and-greet isn’t a clinical evaluation. It’s how we decide together whether this is the right care for you. Membership is discussed only if we both want to move forward.
What if fiber has made me feel worse before?
That is one of the most common reasons people come to us, and it is rarely a reason to rule this work out. Feeling worse can reflect adaptation, or it can mean the current approach is wrong. The two present almost identically and call for opposite responses — which is precisely the judgment this sequence is built around.
Will I need microbiome testing?
Not routinely. We order testing when the result would change the plan, and not otherwise. Where clinically useful, we may use breath testing to observe how you ferment and whether that changes over time. We don’t optimize toward a diversity score, and we won’t ask you to pay for data we aren’t going to act on.
Starting a conversation
BloomAxis™ is delivered as part of your neurologic and metabolic care, never as a standalone program.
The first step is a New Patient Inquiry. Our team reviews what you send, Dr. Izor personally reviews your records, and if the practice looks like a good fit we’ll arrange a complimentary 15–30 minute meet-and-greet — virtually or in our Austin office, whichever suits you. No obligation, and no cost. It’s a conversation to decide together whether this is the right care for you.
Your gut adapts whether or not anyone is guiding it. The question is whether it adapts in a direction you chose.
